When I first started in business, I spent hours scouring reviews and trying to figure out what my competitors were doing. I'd price shop them, study their menus and their moves, and tell myself that was the competition.
Later in my entrepreneurial journey, I realized I couldn't control any of that. All that watching left me tired and a step behind, chasing someone else's plan instead of building my own.
What I could control was how we ran our own business. I could control how we treated people when they walked in, and how we treated the team serving them. I could shape the experience we created inside our four walls, one customer at a time.
The biggest thing standing in an owner's way is usually fear. There's the fear of being seen and the fear of starting before you feel ready. Once you get past those, the market opens up faster than you'd ever expect.
So control the controllables. Take care of your people and make the experience worth walking into, and the rest tends to follow.
If you'd like help figuring out which controllables matter most in your business, that's exactly what we map out together in The Freedom Blueprint.
